A Home Below is a single-player, story-driven exploration game where you play as a hermit crab exploring the ruins of a house that’s been lost to the sea. Platform around large underwater rooms, drifting and floating your way further into the house, harnessing ocean currents and hitching lifts, climbing over surfaces and through cracks in the walls as you travel from room to room. As a hermit crab with the ability to change shells, putting on the Salt family’s forgotten possessions allows you to see memories from the past, revealing the ghostly traces of the lives that once filled the house. Physically platform across these tableaus, providing new pathways and access to other rooms in the house. Discover a wonderful world of responsive, characterful sea creatures based on real UK species, from skittish sea urchins and friendly anemones to a scary wrasse and a curious octopus. Add to your bestiary as you explore, learning real facts about sea life and forming powerful connections.
Set in near-future North Wales, A Home Below is inspired by real climate stories of rising sea levels and flooding, causing entire towns to vanish underwater. As you explore the remnants of the Salt family's once-loved home, you'll piece together how they responded to this disaster, and what happened to them.

A Home Below is a single-player, story-driven hermit crab game where you explore an underwater house in search of a real seashell.

Each room is a world. From skittish sea urchins, and friendly anemones, to a scary wrasse, and a curious octopus. Make hasty retreats and temporary alliances. Interact with a thriving, rambling community under the sea.

Climb over ancient furniture and ride on bubble currents to reach high places. Squeeze through gaps in the walls between rooms to access new worlds. Acquire awesome skills and learn how to do all the funny things that crustaceans do to survive.

In your quest to find a real seashell, you’ll find all kinds of halfway homes that mostly suck. But you can enjoy customising and repairing them, which can have a BIG effect on how you’re seen by others. Do you want to be seen as toxic or a tasty treat?

As you explore, you keep coming across personal items that contain little fragments of the past. Useless to a crab, but still… it feels like the house is trying to tell you something. Explore all the rooms to learn more about the family that once lived here. Discover their story and see if it can help you come to terms with your own strange, crabby existence.
