The game follows Alan Wake, a bestselling thriller novelist battling writer's block, who travels to the small Pacific Northwest town of Bright Falls with his wife Alice seeking inspiration. Alice soon vanishes under mysterious circumstances, and Alan begins discovering pages of a thriller manuscript he has no memory of writing — one whose events begin materializing in reality. Combat centers on battling the Taken, supernatural enemies empowered by darkness. The remaster preserves the original gameplay and story, which explores the boundary between fiction and reality, while delivering upgraded visuals and improved performance. Both story DLC chapters, The Signal and The Writer, are included.
