Alexander is a real-time strategy game developed by GSC Game World in 2004 for PC, based on the Oliver Stone film of the same name and its historical subject. The game traces the same narrative arc as the film, incorporating media taken directly from it. Players command forces drawn from four civilizations — Greek, Persian, Indian, and Egyptian — each with its own dedicated campaign. The engine employs a hybrid approach, combining 2D units with 3D terrain, a technology also used in GSC's Cossacks 2: Napoleonic Wars, which allows for battles involving hundreds of units simultaneously on a single map. Beyond the campaigns, the game includes skirmish and multiplayer modes. The soundtrack, shared with the film, was composed by Vangelis.
