All-Star Baseball 97 is a baseball simulation developed by Iguana Entertainment and released in 1997 for the Sega Saturn and PlayStation. Building on the foundation of the studio's earlier Frank Thomas "Big Hurt" Baseball, it carries both MLB and MLBPA licenses, making available all 30 official teams and their stadiums alongside a roster of more than 700 real players rated according to their 1996 season performance. Six play modes cover Exhibition, Season, Playoffs, All-Star Game, Batting Practice, and Home Run Derby, and a trade system lets players take on a general manager role in pursuing a World Series run. Play-by-play commentary is handled by ESPN's Jon Miller, while dynamic stadium audio includes vendors calling out concessions. Frank Thomas contributed to the game's motion-capture sessions, lending authenticity to the batting and throwing animations.
