Angry Video Game Nerd 8-bit is an action platformer developed by Mega Cat Studios, released in 2025 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Entertainment System, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Players control the Nerd across multiple pixel art levels drawn from the AVGN universe, fighting enemies including zombies, mechanical skeletons, and ghoulish reapers. Core traversal mechanics include sliding under platforms, collecting power-ups, and finding alternate paths toward boss rooms. Alongside the main campaign, the game features an Endless Challenge mode that sends players through procedurally generated, increasingly difficult rooms. After each boss defeat in this mode, the character known as the Game Weenie awards either a beneficial item or a debilitating curse, and a hidden boss appears exclusively within this mode. The game was developed in collaboration with Programancer and maintains a consistent retro 8-bit aesthetic throughout.
