Arkanoid DS is a 2008 puzzle game for the Nintendo DS based on the classic brick-breaking formula. Players pilot the Vaus, a space vessel serving as the game's paddle, directing it along the bottom of the screen to keep a ball in play. The ball destroys bricks on contact, and clearing every brick in a stage advances the player to the next arrangement. Across its levels, the game introduces complications such as bricks requiring multiple hits and enemy ships that move through the field. Falling power-up capsules can alter the Vaus in various ways, including widening it, splitting the ball into several simultaneous projectiles, attaching a laser cannon, or skipping directly to the following stage. Despite these variations, the core loop of controlling the paddle and eliminating bricks remains consistent throughout.
