Armored Core 3 is a mech-combat game developed by FromSoftware, released in 2002 for PlayStation 2 and later PlayStation Portable. Players take on the role of a Raven mercenary, piloting a customizable battle mech through a variety of contracted assignments, including combat operations against enemy mechs and seek-and-destroy missions. Completing missions earns payment that can be reinvested into the machine itself — weapon upgrades, improved shielding, and specialized equipment such as Exceed Orbits, small autonomous gun platforms that orbit the mech and provide additional firepower during combat. This loop of earning credits and refining the mech's loadout forms the core of the single-player experience. The game also includes a four-player deathmatch mode, where participants field their customized mechs against one another in last-machine-standing competition.
