Released in 2013 for the Nintendo 3DS and developed by Millennium Kitchen, Attack of the Friday Monsters! A Tokyo Tale is an adventure-simulator set in the small, picturesque town of Fuji no Hana. The player follows Sohta, a boy whose family has recently opened a dry-cleaning shop there, as he explores the neighborhood, meets its quirky residents, and gradually uncovers a series of episodic mysteries tied to the appearance of a giant monster every Friday evening. Scattered throughout the town are collectible Monster Glims, which can be assembled into Monster Cards. Gathering five cards allows Sohta to challenge friends to card battles, with victories rewarding additional glims, useful information, and the ability to cast a spell that knocks opponents over. The game unfolds across hand-drawn backgrounds accompanied by charming music, weaving a lighthearted story centered on childhood friendship, family, and a sense of wonder.
