Baku Baku is a competitive puzzle game developed by Sega AM3 and released in 1995, appearing on arcades, PC, and Sega Saturn. Players manage columns of falling blocks depicting animals and food items, arranging them so that each animal lands adjacent to its preferred food type. When the pairing is made, the animal consumes the food, with larger connected clusters of matching food tiles yielding higher scores. Successfully triggering these eating chains sends additional random blocks cascading onto the opponent's side of the playfield, disrupting their arrangement. The core objective is to overwhelm the opponent's board until they can no longer place incoming blocks. The mechanic rewards both careful spatial planning and the ability to construct large grouped food formations, balancing offensive pressure against managing one's own stack — a structure broadly comparable to other competitive falling-block puzzle games of the era.
