Battle of Britain is a 1985 strategy and simulation title developed by Personal Software Services, released for the Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, and Amstrad CPC. The player assumes command of RAF Fighter Command during the pivotal 1940 air campaign of World War II. A top-down map depicts the southern half of Great Britain and a portion of the French coastline, marking airfields, radar stations, and cities. Using up to 18 available fighter squadrons, the player scrambles interceptors to meet incoming Luftwaffe raids detected across the region. Two introductory scenarios allow play of a single day under either light or heavy enemy pressure, while a full campaign mode begins on 20 August 1940 and runs for up to 30 days. Each day concludes with a loss summary and a screen for allocating reinforcements, reflecting the attrition-focused nature of the historical battle.
