Boiling Bolt is a 2017 arcade shoot-em-up developed by Persistant Studios, released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Set in a world where Earth has fractured into floating islands sustained by mystical Crystals, players control June, a rebel soldier fighting to protect her home from an organization that is draining those Crystals of their power. Combat draws on an assortment of weapons — including a Plasma Whip, Thunder Lock, and Warp Launcher — while a bullet-time mechanic allows players to slow the action and build combos toward high scores. The game offers several distinct modes, among them Arcade, Free Run, and One Shot One Kill, alongside 30 challenges and both solo and cooperative play. Ship characteristics can be adjusted through an in-game shop, and the presentation combines 3D environments and special effects with 2D manga-style animation.
