Bujingai: The Forsaken City is a hack-and-slash action game developed by Taito and released in 2003 for PlayStation 2. Set in an isolated island-city that shelters the remnants of humanity, the game unfolds after ancient technology tears open a portal to a demonic dimension, flooding the city with hostile supernatural forces. Players control Lau, a dual-sword-wielding warrior who also commands a range of magic spells, cutting through vast numbers of enemies across the besieged urban landscape. Combat is built around fast-paced melee engagement, with Lau's paired blades and spellcasting forming the core of his offensive toolkit. The premise emphasizes scale and relentless conflict, positioning the player character as a singular force capable of dispatching enormous numbers of demonic opponents in defense of what little of the human world still survives.
