A licensed title based on the 1995 film of the same name, Casper was developed by G3 Interactive and released in 1996 for the 3DO Interactive Multiplayer, Sega Saturn, and PlayStation. The game casts the player as Casper, the amiable young ghost who seeks friendship and a second chance at life rather than frightening the living. Set within Whipstaff Manor, the story involves Carrigan Crittenden, a greedy heir convinced that treasure is concealed somewhere in the estate, and Dr. James Harvey, a therapist who works with the deceased and serves as Casper's key ally. Complicating matters are Casper's three mischievous uncles — Stretch, Stinkie, and Fatso — who delight in terrorizing the living and actively obstruct his progress. Gameplay unfolds across a three-dimensional environment and emphasizes puzzle-solving, with Casper capable of assuming different forms and interacting with objects throughout the manor.
