Castle of Shikigami III is a vertical-scrolling shoot-'em-up developed by Alfa System, released in 2006 across Arcade, Wii, PC, and Xbox 360 platforms. The third entry in the Castle of Shikigami series, it centers on a proximity-based scoring and firepower system in which staying close to enemies and their projectiles increases both damage output and point multipliers. Each playable character comes with a distinct arsenal — ranging from chain lightning to psychic blades — giving the roster meaningfully different playstyles. The game features fully voiced dialogue across its various scenarios, adding narrative context to the action. Players can tackle the bullet-heavy stages solo or cooperatively with another player, and a mid-battle character-switching mechanic allows for tactical adjustments during combat, providing an additional layer of strategy to the otherwise relentless enemy fire.
