Cities in Motion is a transportation management simulator developed by Colossal Order and released in 2011 for PC, Mac, and Linux. Players take on the role of a transit planner across four historically rendered cities — Vienna, Helsinki, Berlin, and Amsterdam — building and operating public transport networks spanning a century of history from 1920 to 2020. The game progresses through four distinct eras, with commuter demands shifting accordingly across homes, workplaces, and leisure destinations. Available vehicles number over 30 and are drawn from real-life models, including buses, trams, water buses, helicopters, and subway trains, the latter featuring an underground view. A campaign mode offers 12 scenarios, while a sandbox mode opens all four cities for freeform play. Additional tools include an advanced map editor for custom city creation, and the game world features more than 100 uniquely modeled buildings rendered in detailed 3D environments.
