Released in 2010 by BoomBox for Wii, PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, City Builder is a puzzle-strategy-arcade hybrid that expands on the classic pipe-connecting formula by layering three simultaneous infrastructure grids — roads, water pipes, and power lines. Players select pieces from a rotating dispensary under time pressure, assembling networks that gradually grow isolated plots into full cities spread across the planet's continents. The cartoon world is populated with eccentric obstacles, including Mole-men, wandering hot-air balloons, and the elusive Bigfoot, who can be frightened off with an oversized flash camera. Rocks blocking progress can be cleared with dynamite. The game also features aliens, large bonus levels, and additional challenges throughout its campaign. BoomBox estimates roughly 20 hours of play for experienced players, with casual players potentially spending 40 or more hours completing the full experience.
