Cooking Mama 3: Shop & Chop is a cooking simulation game developed by Taito for the Nintendo DS, released in 2009. Players use the stylus to perform hands-on kitchen tasks across more than 200 mini-games, including chopping, grating, slicing, and stirring, working through a roster of 80 dishes that range from chili con carne and mushroom quiche to tulip chicken. A new addition to the series is a shopping phase in which players gather ingredients before cooking begins. The game also introduces a recipe-creation mode that lets players combine ingredients in novel combinations. Recipes scale in complexity from simple preparations to more elaborate meals, and performance is measured against the standards set by the series' recurring character, Mama. Additional content includes multiplayer cooking challenges, five distinct gameplay modes, and a friend-unlocking mechanic tied to how well virtual guests rate completed dishes.
