Released in 2016 by Paradox Development Studio, The Reaper's Due is a paid expansion for Crusader Kings II, the grand strategy and role-playing title available on PC, Linux, and Mac. The expansion introduces a suite of new mechanics built around epidemic outbreaks, most notably the Black Death and other historically significant diseases. Rulers can seal off their courts from the outside world in an attempt to prevent infection from spreading among their courtiers, though doing so comes at the cost of neglecting their subjects. Population dynamics play a central role: well-governed, peaceful provinces generate greater wealth and manpower over time, while prolonged warfare and repeated outbreaks can hollow out entire regions.
