The Republic is the third expansion for Crusader Kings II, the strategy RPG developed by Paradox Development Studio, released in 2013 for PC, Linux, and Mac. The expansion introduces a distinct style of play centered on Patrician characters within medieval Merchant Republics. Rather than managing a traditional feudal dynasty, players build and expand a trade empire while competing against four rival Patrician families for political dominance. The ultimate prize is the position of Doge, the highest office and leadership role within the Republic.
