Crystal Defenders is a tower defense strategy game developed by Square Enix Product Development Division 4 and released in 2008 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Xbox 360, iOS, and Android. Players position units drawn from Final Fantasy job classes — including Soldiers, Archers, and Black Mages — along a fixed path to prevent waves of enemies from reaching the end. Each enemy that completes the path costs the player one of their crystals, making unit placement and resource management critical to survival. The game is divided into three distinct modes: W1 serves as an introductory experience covering core mechanics, W2 adds Power Crystals that deepen strategic options, and W3 presents more elaborate map layouts that demand greater tactical planning.
