Cultures 2: The Gates of Asgard is a real-time strategy and simulation game developed by Funatics Development and released for PC in 2002. The game follows Bjarni, a Viking living in a coastal Greenlandic village, whose peaceful existence is disrupted by a dark prophecy foretelling a clash between the forces of good and evil. Driven by this vision, Bjarni embarks on a wide-ranging quest to confront the Midgard Serpent, journeying across Europe — including England and Byzantium — and as far as the outskirts of Baghdad. Along the way, his mission draws together four major western cultures under a shared cause. Rooted in Norse mythology, the game blends real-time strategy with simulation, adventure, and role-playing elements, framing large-scale cultural management and combat within a narrative-driven campaign centered on Bjarni's mythological struggle.
