Dakar 2: The World's Ultimate Rally is a racing game developed by Acclaim Cheltenham and released in 2003 for Xbox, Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation, and PlayStation 2, simulating the iconic Paris-Dakar Rally. The central rally mode spans 12 stages traveling from France to Dakar, taking competitors through varied terrain including cities, forests, and open desert. Most stages follow defined routes, though certain desert sections allow free-roaming navigation, requiring players to locate checkpoints ahead of rivals rather than follow a set path. Officially licensed vehicles from the 2002 Dakar Rally are available across three categories — cars, trucks, and motorcycles — though each race restricts competition to a single vehicle type. An arcade mode lets players access any tracks and vehicles already unlocked in rally mode, and a two-player splitscreen option is also included.
