Damaged Core is a first-person virtual reality shooter developed by High Voltage Software and released in 2016 exclusively for Oculus Rift. Built from the ground up for VR, the game places players in a sci-fi conflict against a networked artificial intelligence called the Core, whose robotic armies seek to eliminate humanity in pursuit of their own evolution. The campaign runs over ten hours, offering an extended single-player experience centered on combat against these machine forces. High Voltage Software, previously known for the Conduit series, applied that shooter pedigree to a VR-native format, designing the mechanics and environments specifically around the Rift's immersive capabilities rather than adapting an existing non-VR title.
