Dance Dance Revolution Mario Mix is a music rhythm game developed by Konami for the Nintendo GameCube, released in 2005. The game centers on a story mode in which the Music Keys have been stolen, unleashing chaotic musical energy across the Mushroom Kingdom, and Mario must retrieve them by clearing dance-based levels across multiple worlds. Gameplay involves stepping on directional arrows on an included Action Pad in time with the music, with characters such as Mario, Luigi, Toad, Waluigi, Wario, and Bowser appearing throughout. The soundtrack features over 25 tracks drawing from classic Nintendo themes and other familiar songs. Five difficulty levels accommodate a range of skill levels, and completing songs progressively unlocks additional tracks, minigames, and harder difficulties. A Workout mode tracks calories burned during play. Enemy encounters, including Goombas, are incorporated into the step sequences.
