Dark Planet: Battle for Natrolis is a real-time strategy game developed by Creative Edge Software and released in 2002 for PC. Players choose from three distinct factions: the Colonists, a high-tech mechanized force; the Sorin, a fantasy-based army wielding magic; and the Dreil, monsters that rely on brute strength alongside hive and cocooning mechanics. Each faction demands a different strategic approach. The game runs on a true 3D engine with fully adjustable camera perspective, zoom, and viewing angle, and features a richly detailed environment complete with day-and-night cycles, wind-affected vegetation, ambient wildlife with independent AI, and dynamic weather. Rain reduces movement speed, wind patterns shift, and darkness alters visibility, all of which factor into tactical decisions. Multiplayer supports several modes, including Domination, Capture the Flag, and cooperative Campaign play.
For eons, the planet Natrolis was controlled by the magic of the reptilian Sorin race. But when a fleet of tech-powered humans arrives to colonize the surface, they awaken the unimaginable: the Dreil, a hyper evolved insectoid warrior race hibernating deep within the planet's core. Now, all three forces collide in a mortal struggle for domination.
