Death or Treat is a 2D action rogue-lite hack-and-slash platformer developed by Saona Studios, released in 2023 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Players control Scary, the owner of Ghost Mart, a candy manufacturer whose Halloween-themed world is under threat. The game takes place across multiple procedurally varied maps spanning distinct locations — including Darkchat, Riptok, Deviltube, and FaceBoo! — each with its own visual identity rendered in hand-painted environments animated in a traditional style. Combat centers on three weapon styles — fast, heavy, and ranged — allowing players to build different approaches while battling waves of enemies. Between runs, players return to HallowTown, a hub populated by shopkeepers offering weapon crafting, inventory upgrades, healing items, spell-crafting, and ingredient trading. Hidden treasures scattered across runs unlock additional weapons and skills, adding progression depth to each attempt.
