Def Jam: Fight for NY is a hip-hop fighting game developed by EA Canada and released in 2004 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Nintendo GameCube. Players take on the role of a street fighter competing for dominance of the hip-hop underground across more than 90 bouts spread over 22 interactive venues, where destructible objects and spectators can factor into fights. The game's engine centers on five distinct fighting disciplines — street fighting, kickboxing, martial arts, wrestling, and submission fighting — which can be combined in groups of up to three to produce hybrid styles with unique finishing moves. A create-a-fighter mode allows extensive character customization through unlockable clothing, tattoos, and jewelry. The roster features over 40 hip-hop artists and celebrities, including Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, Method Man, Lil' Kim, Busta Rhymes, Ice-T, and Ghostface, among others. The PlayStation 2 version supports online multiplayer.
