Die for Valhalla! is a hack-and-slash action RPG developed by Monster Couch, released in 2018 for PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Players control a Valkyrie whose central ability is possessing fallen warriors, monsters, and other beings — a mechanic that drives both combat and progression across a setting where Norse mythology intersects with Lovecraftian horror. The game offers two distinct structural modes: a Beat 'Em Up mode with a broader world and a more forgiving difficulty curve, and a Hardcore roguelite mode featuring procedurally smaller worlds, permadeath, and unpredictable potion effects. Progression draws from more than 80 skills, seven Viking classes with distinct combo systems, and over ten unlockable clans each carrying unique bonuses. Bloodthirsty creature companions provide additional abilities in battle. Up to four players can participate locally, with Deathmatch and Survival challenge modes available for competitive play.
