Die Hard: Nakatomi Plaza is a first-person shooter developed by Piranha Games and released in 2002 for PC. Players control John McClane as he works to neutralize a terrorist takeover of the Nakatomi Plaza, following the storyline of the original Die Hard film. The game's levels are modeled on the film's sets, and several key action sequences from the movie are recreated within the missions. While the core narrative closely mirrors the film, the game also introduces original content not found in the source material, including missions where McClane must escort a SWAT team through the building and rescue hostages scattered across multiple floors. This additional content extends the experience beyond a straightforward adaptation, giving the familiar story some structural variety without departing significantly from the established setting and premise.
New York City policeman John McClane (Bruce Willis) is visiting his estranged wife (Bonnie Bedelia) and two daughters on Christmas Eve. He joins her at a holiday party in the headquarters of the Japanese-owned business she works for. But the festivities are interrupted by a group of terrorists who take over the exclusive high-rise, and everyone in it. Very soon McClane realizes that there's no one to save the hostages -- but him.
