Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is a turn-based RPG developed by Media.Vision and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, released in 2016 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, PC, and Nintendo Switch. The fifth entry in the Digimon Story series and the first to appear on home consoles, it follows the franchise's tradition of monster collection and training while introducing a combat system closely modeled on the Conditional Turn-Based battle mechanics found in Final Fantasy X, where turn order plays a strategic role in each encounter. Players build a team of Digimon by scanning and capturing creatures encountered throughout the game, then raise and evolve them across an extensive roster. The game also draws on conventions established by the Pokémon series in its collection and progression systems, refining several of those elements within its own framework. The result is a structured RPG blending monster-collecting with tactical, order-dependent combat.
Players assume the role of either Takumi Aiba or Ami Aiba , male and female Japanese amateur hackers. They receive a device called a Digimon Capture from a mysterious stranger in a chat room which allows them to capture and befriend Digimon, creatures who inhabit a next-generation version of the internet called Cyberspace Eden which users can physically enter. After traveling to the lowest levels of Eden, they are attacked by a data-based entity called an "Eater" who leaves their bodies half-digitized, and find that they can now freely travel between the real world and the virtual world via terminals. They are approached by a woman named Kyoko Kuremi, head of the Kuremi Detective Agency, who recruits them as part of their cyber division
