Dillon's Dead-Heat Breakers is a 2018 strategy-action game developed by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS, set in a post-apocalyptic wild west decimated by a catastrophe eighty years prior. Players work alongside Dillon, an armadillo gunslinger known as the "Red Flash," and his squirrel engineer Russ, with the player's own Mii character also participating in the team. The central objective is defending frontier towns and their livestock from waves of rock monsters unleashed by a mysterious ship. Between battles, players gather resources by assisting local businesses and competing in races, then use those resources to reinforce barricades and man defensive towers. Combat involves rolling into enemies and engaging in high-speed chases as the monsters shift into wheeled forms. With over 30 enemy types—including armored, electrified, poisonous, burrowing, and flying variants—the game demands varied tactical approaches across its encounters. Hired gunners can be recruited to bolster defensive efforts.
