Divine Divinity is an action role-playing game developed by Larian Studios and released in 2002 for Windows. Set in the world of Rivellon, the game follows the prophesied Chosen One who must unite seven races under the guidance of the wizard Zandalor to prevent the Lord of Chaos — summoned by the Black Ring cult — from coming into being. Players choose from three starting archetypes (warrior, wizard, or survivor) but are free to distribute points among 96 skills regardless of initial class, allowing flexible character builds. Combat is fast-paced and hack-and-slash in style, with an optional pause mechanic for managing more demanding encounters. The game world is expansive, filled with non-linear quests estimated to provide over 100 hours of content, and features extensive item interaction including potion crafting and weapon poisoning. The soundtrack was composed by Kirill Pokrovsky. PC Gamer named it among its Top 100 PC Games of All Time in 2012.
The game chronicles the never-ending battle between valiant heroes and the destructive powers of Chaos harnessed by the Black Ring, a cult of enduring evil. You play the role of the prophesised Chosen One who under the guidance of the wizard Zandalor must unite the seven races of Rivellon so that you may become the Divine One and stop the birth of the Lord of Chaos.
