Dr. Muto is a 3D third-person action-adventure game developed by Midway Games and released in 2002 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Nintendo GameCube. The player controls Dr. Muto, a mad scientist who accidentally destroys his home planet in a botched experiment, leaving only his laboratory intact. To rebuild his world, he must travel to neighboring planets and collect organic matter using an arsenal of gadgets and a DNA-based morphing ability that allows him to transform into various creatures, including a spider, mouse, and gorilla. The game features free-roaming environments populated with puzzle challenges and a cast of eccentric characters, among them Dr. Muto's sidekick Janky and his antagonist Professor Burnital. Its stylized setting blends platforming and puzzle-solving with a tone of dark, absurdist comedy throughout.
