Dreams is a creative sandbox and exploration platform developed by Media Molecule, released in 2020 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation VR. The game centers on two intertwined experiences: a set of tools that allows players to build games, animations, music, films, and visual art, and an ever-expanding community library — referred to as the "Dreamiverse" — where creations made by others can be freely browsed and played. The aesthetic logic binding these elements together is the loose, associative quality of dreaming. Beyond the platform itself, content produced within Dreams carries practical utility outside the game, as Media Molecule permits creators to use their music, animation, and art for both personal and commercial projects, subject to certain limitations. The breadth of the toolset positions Dreams less as a conventional adventure title and more as a generative environment where the content is largely user-defined.
