Edna & Harvey: The Breakout is a point-and-click adventure game developed by Daedalic Entertainment and released in 2008, available on Windows, Mac, Linux, and iOS. It was the studio's debut title, predating their later works Deponia and The Whispered World, and won the 2009 Red Dot Design Award. The game follows Edna, a young woman who wakes in a padded cell at an asylum with no recollection of her past. Accompanied by Harvey, her talking stuffed rabbit, she sets out to escape the facility. The attempt brings her into contact with an eccentric cast of fellow patients, while the asylum's director, Dr. Marcel, works to prevent her from leaving. As Edna navigates further from her cell, fragmented memories of her life before confinement begin to surface. Gameplay draws from the LucasArts SCUMM-engine tradition, presenting a 2D environment where players combine verb-based commands to solve puzzles. The game features over 20 hours of content, a comic-book visual style, and full voice acting in both German and English.
