Developed by South Korean studio KOG Studios and released in 2010 for PC, Elsword is a free-to-play action MMORPG combining side-scrolling hack-and-slash combat with RPG progression in a manga-inspired visual style. Players select from thirteen playable characters, each carrying a distinct backstory, skill set, and branching job advancement paths that allow for substantial build customization. The game's primary PvE content consists of over fifty dungeons, towns, and hidden stages navigable solo or in cooperative parties. A separate PvP mode supports competitive matches accommodating up to eight players simultaneously, with matchmaking and multiple competitive formats available. Character development extends beyond combat stats to cosmetic customization, giving each roster member a range of personalization options. KOG Studios has supported the title with regular content updates, item expansions, and community events since its launch.
