Endless Ocean is an underwater exploration simulator developed by Arika and released for the Wii in 2007. Players take on the role of a diver navigating a large oceanic environment, observing and cataloguing the diverse marine species encountered throughout the world. The gameplay emphasizes open-ended discovery over combat or strict objectives, allowing players to move through coral reefs, ocean depths, and other aquatic environments at their own pace. As players encounter new creatures, information about each species is recorded, building out a comprehensive in-game catalog. The experience is largely tranquil and unhurried, centered on the gradual accumulation of knowledge about the underwater ecosystem rather than action-driven challenges. Endless Ocean stands as one of the more distinctive titles in the Wii library, offering a contemplative approach to the adventure and simulation genres.
