Escape Academy: Escape from the Past is a puzzle-adventure game released in 2023, available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. A prequel to the main Escape Academy experience, it follows Sandra Solange and Eel Barnes during their early days as students at the Academy. The story begins when a suspicious incident at a school sporting event nearly kills Headmaster Horatio Windsor, who becomes convinced that a faculty member is plotting against him. He secretly recruits Sandra and Eel to investigate the suspected teachers as undercover agents. As further incidents accumulate, players work through five new escape rooms, gathering evidence and piecing together clues to identify the culprit. The expansion frames its puzzle structure around a whodunit mystery, blending the series' characteristic room-escape mechanics with an investigative narrative centered on familiar characters from the Academy setting.
