Eschatos is a vertical arcade shoot 'em up developed by Qute Corporation, released in 2011 and available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Set in the 21XX century, the game follows a space fighter pilot tasked with repelling an alien invasion launched from a captured lunar base, ultimately fighting back through space to reclaim the Moon. Players choose from three distinct modes — Original, Advanced, and Time Attack — each emphasizing different priorities, from rapid enemy clearing to risk-reward management and speed-based challenges. Combat centers on three weapons with meaningful trade-offs: a powerful but narrow Front Shot, a short-range Wide Shot, and a close-range Shield capable of deflecting bullets and dealing heavy damage. Five stages with a dynamic camera system, large screen-filling bosses, online leaderboards, a downloadable replay system, and a retro-synth soundtrack by Yousuke Yasui round out the package.
