Fade to Black is a 1995 action-adventure game developed by Delphine Software International and published by Electronic Arts, serving as the sequel to the 1992 title Flashback. Released for DOS and PlayStation, the game shifts its predecessor's 2D gameplay into a three-dimensional environment while retaining the action and exploration elements the series established. Players navigate through missions that blend combat and puzzle-solving, continuing the science-fiction storyline carried over from Flashback. Planned versions for Nintendo 64 and Sega Saturn were ultimately cancelled before release. The transition to 3D represented a significant technical step for Delphine, situating the game within a period when many developers were experimenting with the move away from sprite-based presentation toward polygonal graphics on emerging and established PC and console hardware of the mid-1990s.
Conrad, the hero from Flashback: the Quest for Identity awakes from his cryogenic sleep to find himself in the clutches of his old enemy, the Morphs. With your heart in your throat, battle through the whole solar system. Know how to win the confidence of the Ancients, these mysterious people, and discover the fabulous powers of the Pyramid. Overcome the terror which invades you in these murky mazes infested with danger, and exhaust your limits to conquer the Morph invaders.
