Old World Blues is a downloadable expansion for Fallout: New Vegas, developed by Obsidian Entertainment and released in 2011 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The add-on transports the player to the Big MT research crater, a vast wasteland region previously believed to be uninhabitable. Once there, the player becomes entangled with the Think Tank, a group of eccentric post-human scientists whose experiments have spiraled dangerously out of control. The expansion tasks the player with exploring the crater and its network of underground laboratories, confronting mutated creatures and new varieties of atomic robots along the way. A dedicated home base becomes available within the facility, and the player can recover pre-war weapons, armor, and technology scattered throughout the environment. Old World Blues blends the shooter and RPG mechanics of the base game with a self-contained storyline set in a distinctly strange, science-fiction-inflected corner of the post-apocalyptic Mojave.
