Fishing Master is a 2007 sports fishing game developed by Hudson Soft for the Wii. Players use the Wii Remote as a fishing rod, mimicking the physical motions of casting and reeling to catch fish. The majority of catchable species are based on real-world fish, though fictional varieties become available as the game progresses. Between fishing sessions, players can purchase upgrades for their rod and acquire new types of bait, adding a light progression element to the experience. The game makes direct use of the Wii Remote's motion controls as its central mechanic, making the hardware integral to gameplay rather than incidental. A sequel, Fishing Master World Tour, was released in North America in January 2009.
