Fit For A King is a role-playing adventure sandbox simulator developed by Brent Ellison and released in 2019 for PC. Set in England in 1520, it casts the player as a monarch — king or queen — challenged to out-spend the rival French ruler at the Field of the Cloth of Gold. Gold chests are scattered across the castle, taxes must be collected, and laws can be rewritten on a whim. The game offers 26 royal commands covering actions such as marriage, execution, tax collection, knighting, blessing, lute-playing, and church reformation. Its non-linear structure permits anything from dutiful rule to wholesale chaos — ordaining a horse as a priest or knighting a piece of furniture are entirely viable pursuits. Historical figures including Machiavelli and Suleiman the Magnificent appear throughout. The soundtrack features original compositions by Visager Music alongside an arrangement of Henry VIII's own Pastime in Good Company.

Reform the church to divorce and marry as you please. Marry foreign princesses, or, heck, your favourite bookshelf. Or both. Jail your steward. Execute everyone. Ordain your horse as a priest. Knight your bed. Who’s going to stop you? God? Nope. Not after you become the Pope.
This is no game of thrones. This is real life, as Henry VIII would have lived it, if only he had the imagination.
