Developed by Archiact and released in 2019, FreeDiver: Triton Down is a VR adventure simulator available on PlayStation VR, Meta Quest, and PC. Players take on the role of Ren Tanaka, an elite freediver who has avoided the water for months following a traumatic incident. When her mentor, an unconventional scientist named Dr. Lindstrom, announces a significant discovery in an underwater cavern, Ren returns to the sea — only to find herself caught in a nautical disaster. With no scuba equipment, oxygen serves as the sole resource, and rising seawater functions as the primary obstacle throughout. Movement is built around swimming and diving mechanics designed for VR interaction, requiring players to navigate flooded environments and solve problems under pressure. The game features handcrafted music and sound effects, and its underwater settings were constructed in Unreal Engine 4.
