Fugl is an open-ended exploration and simulation game developed by Team Fugl, released in 2017 for PC, Mac, and Linux. Players control a shape-shifting bird across a procedurally generated voxel world that spans varied biomes — tropical beaches, snowy mountains, deserts, and old-growth forests — with no objectives, time limits, or prescribed goals. The core mechanic involves encountering the hundreds of animals inhabiting these environments; spending time near other creatures allows the player's bird to absorb their physical characteristics and flight behaviors, gradually altering both appearance and movement physics. Rare mythical creatures can also be discovered. The game includes a level editor for modifying the world and an avatar editor for building a custom bird. Progression is entirely self-directed, and the experience is designed around unhurried exploration and aesthetic experimentation rather than challenge or structured advancement.
