Genji: Days of the Blade is a hack-and-slash action game developed by Game Republic Inc. and released in 2006 as a PlayStation 3 launch title and sequel to the PlayStation 2 game Genji: Dawn of the Samurai. Set three years after the Genji Clan's victory over the Heishi in a conflict centered on the sacred Amahagane jewels, the game follows Yoshitsune Minamoto and Benkei Musashibo, now joined by the priestess Shizuka Gozen and the supernatural warrior Lord Buson, as they confront a new threat combining Heishi forces with mysterious otherworldly creatures. Players switch between all four characters in real time, each carrying distinct weapons and abilities. Combat blends standard attacks and combos with Kamui, a charged ability that triggers timed button sequences to unleash powerful strikes. Levels draw from both historical Japanese locations and fantastical settings, incorporating platforming and light puzzle elements. Collected Amahagane and Mashogane serve as RPG-style upgrade materials for character stats and weapon power.
