GrimGrimoire is a real-time strategy game developed by Nippon Ichi Software and released in 2007 for PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3. Players control Lillet Blan, a young magician who enrolls at an elite school of magic, only to find that all its inhabitants have vanished by the fifth day. She then wakes to relive the first day of school, but crucially retains her memories of what came before. This time-loop structure drives both the narrative and gameplay, as Lillet uses her accumulated knowledge to investigate the cause of the disappearances and work toward preventing the catastrophe. The game blends RTS mechanics with RPG elements, centering on magic-based combat and strategy as players work through the recurring days, gradually uncovering the mysteries concealed within the school.
Lillet Blan arrives at the Tower of Silver Star to begin her schooling. During her first five days, she meets her teachers and fellow students. On her fifth evening, Lillet wakes to find the Tower under attack from Calvaros's released spirit, who has killed the other teachers and is seeking the Philosopher's Stone. Before he can kill her, the clock strikes midnight and she is sent back to the beginning of her first day at the Tower. During the next three loops of time, Lillet learns more about the Tower's inhabitants and her own situation.
