Headhunter is a third-person action-adventure developed by Amuze and released in 2001 for Dreamcast and PlayStation 2. Set in a near-future world where privatized law enforcement has replaced conventional policing, the game follows Jack Wade, a former cop turned bounty hunter who wakes from a coma with his license revoked and his memory largely gone. Hired by a woman named Angela Stern to investigate her father's murder, Jack navigates a sprawling urban environment while piecing together his own past. Gameplay combines over-the-shoulder combat with stealth mechanics, allowing Jack to take cover against walls, peek around corners, and attack from concealed positions. A radar in the corner of the screen tracks both Jack and nearby enemies. Between missions, Jack travels the city by motorcycle. Access to new districts, weapons, and gadgets is gated behind a licensing system, with players earning credentials through a virtual-reality training facility called LEILA, which tests combat, stealth, and driving abilities.
