Heroes of the Storm is a multiplayer online battle arena game developed by Blizzard Entertainment, released in 2015 for Windows and Mac. The game assembles playable characters drawn from across Blizzard's various franchises, including Warcraft and StarCraft, pitting them against one another in team-based combat. Matches are structured around 5-versus-5 engagements, and the roster of characters — referred to in-game as heroes — each bring distinct abilities tied to their respective universes. The game supports multiple modes of play, including cooperative matches in which human players face off against computer-controlled opponents, as well as standard competitive play in which two human-controlled teams contest each other directly.
In an environment called The Nexus with eternal fights, heroes from famous Blizzard franchises such as World of Warcraft, StarCraft, Diablo and Lost Vikings are grouped per franchise and role to battle for control of the battleground.
