Hexic HD is a puzzle game developed by Carbonated Games and released in 2005 for Xbox 360, designed by Alexey Pajitnov, the creator of Tetris. Gameplay centers on rotating clusters of three hexagonal tiles to form matching groups of the same color. As players progress, bonus pieces and starflower formations become available, opening additional scoring opportunities and strategic options. Bombs also appear on the board and must be cleared within a limited window; failure to do so ends the game. The hexagonal grid distinguishes it from conventional tile-matching puzzles, requiring players to think carefully about rotational positioning rather than simple linear alignment. The combination of color-matching fundamentals, special pieces, and time-sensitive hazards gives the game a layered structure that grows more demanding as play continues.
